What is removed?
For JPEG input, this tool draws the image into a new JPEG. For HEIC input, it reads the original EXIF and converts the image locally to JPEG. Before enabling download, it scans the new JPEG for common EXIF, XMP, IPTC, and comment markers and other checked application segments.
We do not change the original file. Your browser generates a separate download with -private added to the filename.
Why re-encode instead of deleting one tag?
A JPEG can carry information in several places. Removing just the GPS tag can leave camera model, date, XMP, or comments behind. Pixel re-encoding gives a simpler first-version privacy workflow, though it can affect image quality, color rendering, orientation, and file size.
What remains?
Visible information remains in the pixels. A distinctive building, address sign, face, or document can identify people or places. The downloaded file also receives ordinary file-system details, such as a download time, from your device. Check the image itself before publishing it.
HEIC input is supported and always downloads as JPEG. Some HEIC variants or multi-image files may not convert correctly; the first still image is used. PNG and RAW remain unsupported.
